04.4.2006

(Basketball News) - The Sacramento Kings (38-36) own the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. They are two games ahead of the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets.

The Kings are scheduled to split their final eight games of the regular season evenly between home and the road. They will host the Rockets, Suns, Hornets and Seattle.

Sacramento’s last road games are against Dallas, San Antonio, the Clippers and Denver.

On Tuesday, the Kings try to win their fourth straight game when they visit the Mavericks at American Airlines Center. It is the third and final meeting of the season between the squads. In the previous two contests, the teams split a pair of games at ARCO Arena.

Sacramento has lost four straight after winning its last two at Dallas.

The Kings play the opener of a three-game road trip against the Mavericks. On Sunday, Ron Artest scored 26 points and Brad Miller finished with 25 points and nine rebounds as Sacramento defeated the Clippers, 106-96, at ARCO Arena.

Mike Bibby ended with 22 points and Shareef Abdur-Rahim registered 18 points in the win over the Clippers for the Kings, who have won 10 of their last 15 games overall.

Sacramento is 14-23 on the road this season. The Kings will visit San Antonio on Wednesday and the Clippers on Sunday.

Artest has played 40 or more minutes in 12 of his last 14 games. He is averaging 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists in his last 10 outings.
