Sacramento Kings Team Report - February 18

(Basketball News) - Peja Stojakovic netted 28 points and tied a career high with seven assists in leading the Sacramento Kings to a 127-111 victory over the Boston Celtics at ARCO Arena.

Sacramento tied a franchise record with 16 three-pointers made and received double-digit scoring efforts from seven players. Mike Bibby finished with 19 points while Vlade Divac notched his first triple-double of the season with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists for the Kings, winners of four straight and eight of their last nine.

The Kings learned earlier in the day that power forward Chris Webber, who was just activated from the injured list, would be suspended for eight games by the league for lying to a federal grand jury and violating the terms of the NBA’s substance abuse policy.

Fellow forward Brad Miller, who turned his ankle in Sunday’s All-Star Game, did not dress for the contest and could miss up to two weeks with the injury.

The Kings will return to action on Thursday when they head to Minnesota for a battle of Western Conference heavyweights with the Timberwolves at the Target Center.

Sacramento, at 38-13, holds a six-game edge over the Los Angeles Lakers in the Pacific Divison, while at 38-15, Minnesota holds a three-game advantage over the San Antonio Spurs in the Midwest Divsion.

Adding even more intrigue to this matchup of NBA heavyweights, the last four meetings between the two have been decided in overtime.

Sacramento has split its two meetings with the T-Wolves this season, but has won three of five and six of the last nine in the series. The Kings, though, have dropped 10 of their last 12 in Minnesota.
