Same city, different team: Radmanovic signs with Lakers

"Signing a player who can stretch the court was a top priority for our team going into the offseason and with Vladimir, we feel we’ve accomplished that goal and added an important dimension to our team," said Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak. "In addition to his strong outside shooting, Vladimir has the ability to get to the basket off the dribble, he’s an underrated rebounder and continues to improve his inside game."
Radmanovic averaged 9.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for Seattle and the Clippers last season, while making 39 percent of his shots from beyond the arc. The long-distance game is Radmanovic’s speciality, as the big man shot 42 percent from three-point range during the 2001-02 campaign with the Sonics.
In five NBA seasons, Radmanovic has totaled 10.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest with 576 career three-pointers.
In other team news, Kupchak kept his North Carolina connection alive by signing former Tar Heel guard Shammond Williams to a contract. A six-year NBA veteran, Williams has averaged 6.1 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 295 career games.
