Same old Bull: Chicago loses again

11.26.2003

Dallas, TX (Basketball News) - Michael Finley scored a game-high 28 points and handed out six assists to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 124-98 win over the lowly Chicago Bulls at American Airlines Center.

Dirk Nowitzki was 10-of-10 from the line and finished with 19 points and nine rebounds for the Mavericks, who posted their third straight win. Antawn Jamison added 15 points off the bench as the Mavs improved to a perfect 8-0 at home.

Tyson Chandler netted 17 points for the Bulls, who played their first game since firing head coach Bill Cartwright. On Monday, Bulls general manager John Paxson announced that Cartwright had been relieved of his duties. Pete Myers has taken over as Chicago’s leader on an interim basis.

Myers came into this season as a team scout. He is currently in his fifth season with the Bulls’ basketball operations department. Myers has worked as both an assistant coach and as a member of the Bulls’ scouting staff.

The Bulls have now lost six straight games and are just 4-11 this season.

The Mavericks only led by nine at the intermission, but outscored the Bulls, 41-20, in the third and they never looked back.

The Mavericks made 12 straight shots in the third en route to a 33-15 run. Jamison completed the burst with a three-point play with 1:18 left in the frame.

Finley scored 13 points in the third stanza.

Dallas shot 53 percent from the field, forced 15 turnovers and won the battle on the glass, 49-39, in the contest.

Scottie Pippen left the game late in the first half for Chicago after taking an elbow to the face.
