=== San Antonio Spurs Team Report - April 5 ===

(Basketball News) - San Antonio sent a message to the rest of the league Sunday afternoon, downing the red hot Los Angeles Lakers, 95-89, at the Staples Center. In the process, the Spurs stopped Los Angeles’ 11-game win streak.

Tony Parker poured in 29 points and handed out nine assists to pace the Spurs to the win. Tim Duncan contributed 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Spurs, who have won six straight games and remained 1 1/2 games behind Minnesota for the Midwest Division lead. The Timberwolves defeated Memphis Sunday.

Bruce Bowen and Manu Ginobli added 12 points apiece for San Antonio, which has won eight of its last nine contests overall. The Spurs hit 43 percent of their shots, including 7-of-15 from three-point range. San Antonio drilled 18-of-26 from the charity stripe.

San Antonio won 13 in a row from Dec. 5-28 for the NBA’s second-longest winning streak this season.

The Spurs will look to keep their hot streak alive Wednesday, when they battle the Seattle SuperSonics at the SBC Center. San Antonio has three of its final five games at home.
