(Basketball News) - The San Antonio Spurs shoot for their fifth consecutive win while aiming to maintain their home dominance tonight, when they host the Philadelphia 76ers at SBC Center.
San Antonio has won all six of its home games this season after posting a 33-8 home mark last season. The Spurs have been quite good against the Eastern Conference as well, tallying a 5-1 mark after registering a 22-8 record last season.
San Antonio continued its hot streak on Tuesday night, mustering an impressive 107-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks at AmericanAirlines Center. Tim Duncan had 20 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks and Devin Brown scored 14 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter for San Antonio.
Tony Parker netted 17 points to help the Spurs to their fourth straight win and 10th in 12 tries. Beno Udrih also had 16 points of the bench. At 12-3, San Antonio is off to its best start since the 1999-00 squad opened the season 14-3.
San Antonio shot 47.5 percent despite shooting only 1-of-11 from three-point territory. The Spurs drained 30-of-39 from the charity stripe in the winning effort.
During the Spurs’ four-game win streak, they are limiting foes to just 80 points per contest while winning by an average of 19.8 points.
San Antonio won the first meeting between these teams, 88-80, in Philadelphia on November 18. Nonetheless, the Sixers have won four of the last six meetings in this series. The road team has won two straight in this set.
