Seattle continues homestand against Indiana

12.4.2005

(Basketball News) - The Seattle SuperSonics take aim at their third consecutive win this evening when they continue a five-game homestand against the Indiana Pacers at KeyArena.

Seattle’s latest win came on Friday, as Rashard Lewis scored 26 points and Ronald Murray poured in a season-best 24 to lead the Sonics past the Cleveland Cavaliers, 115-108. Ray Allen recorded 21 points for the Sonics, whose winning streak comes on the heels of a three-game slide.

With the game tied at 98-98 with four minutes remaining, the Sonics went on an 8-2 run to take the lead for good. Damon Jones answered with a three-pointer to cut the Cavs’ deficit to 106-103, 12 seconds later, but Allen’s trey with 1:22 on the clock extended the lead back to six.

Jones again drained a three-pointer with 1:04 left to again make it a three- point game.

Murray and LeBron James exchanged layups to keep it a three-point contest, but Murray hit a pair of free throws with 16.7 left to increase the lead to five. Vladimir Radmanovic then stole the ensuing inbounds pass after a timeout and went the length of the court for a dunk to account for the final score.

Seattle, which will close its stand against the Knicks on Tuesday, is 5-3 in its arena this season.

Indiana, meanwhile, comes in on a winning note after Jermaine O’Neal poured in a game-high 27 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Pacers past the Portland Trail Blazers, 98-78, at the Rose Garden.

Sarunas Jasikevicius added 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting for the Pacers, who won for the fourth time in the last six games. Ron Artest chipped in 12 points and five rebounds while Fred Jones came off the bench to score 11 points in the win.

Indiana, which will be wrapping up a five-game homestand tonight, is 5-3 away from home this season.

Seattle took both matchups from the Pacers last season, but has lost four of the last six meetings. Indiana has had success in the Emerald City, where they have won three of five.
