Seattle SuperSonics Team Report - November 4 11.4.2004
|
(Basketball News) - The Sonics fell 114-84 to the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center on Wednesday.
Seattle, winners of the previous six head-to-head meetings, connected on just 37 percent of its shots, getting 24 points from Rashard Lewis and 20 from Vladimir Radmanovic. Ray Allen managed 20 points on a dismal 7-for-18 effort.
The Sonics trailed right from the get-go on Elton Brand’s turnaround jumper 31 seconds in. Brand had six of the Clippers’ eight points before Seattle had any, and it was 14-3 before the fans were settled in their seats.
Radmanovic’s dunk with three-plus minutes to go in the opening quarter pulled the visitors within five, but an 11-3 LA run found Seattle down by 13 heading into the second.
A bucket by Jerome James early in the third got the Sonics as close as 10, but an 11-0 burst by the Clippers over the next 2 1/2 minutes put the game away for good.
Forward Nick Collison, Seattle’s first-round selection in 2003 who missed all of last season due to injury, played 13 minutes and had two points and five boards.
Seattle has a day off before hosting the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.
