Sonics are sinking

12.18.2006

(Basketball News) - The Seattle SuperSonics are a disappointing 10-15 and sit in last place in the Northwest Division. On Monday, the Memphis Grizzlies attempt to halt a six-game losing streak when they welcome the struggling SuperSonics to the FedExForum.

The SuperSonics have won six of their last seven at Memphis. Seattle has won seven of the last 10 contests in the series.

Seattle plays the finale of a five-game road trip against the Grizzlies. On Sunday, Jason Maxiell’s baseline jumper with 6.8 seconds left gave Detroit the lead and the Pistons went on to defeat the SuperSonics, 97-93, at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Rashard Lewis ended with 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Sonics, who fell to 0-4 on their current road trip. Chris Wilcox finished with 21 points in defeat.

The SuperSonics are 4-9 on the road this season. After Monday’s contest, they return home for a three-game homestand. Seattle will host Dallas, Toronto and the Hornets on the upcoming stand.

All-Star guard Ray Allen is sidelined with a bone bruise in his right ankle. He has missed seven straight games. The SuperSonics are 3-4 without Allen, who leads the team in scoring (25.3 ppg).

Seattle is 5-7 when it allows 100 or more points this season. The SuperSonics are 6-5 when they reach the century mark.
