Sonics continue road trip in Atlanta

02.22.2006

(Basketball News) - The struggling Seattle SuperSonics continue their six-game road trip when they visit the Atlanta Hawks tonight at Philips Arena.

Seattle’s losing streak continued Tuesday night in a 103-78 defeat to the defending-champion San Antonio Spurs.

Ray Allen paced the Sonics with 20 points, while Nick Collison added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Sonics, who have dropped four straight and eight of their last nine contests overall.

Not only did the Sonics lose their seventh consecutive road game, but forward Rashard Lewis left in the fourth quarter with a sprained right ankle and center Chris Wilcox exited moments later with a dislocated left middle finger.

On a brighter note, Seattle has won four straight versus Atlanta and five of the last six meetings. The Sonics posted a 99-91 win in the first matchup on February 10th.

The SuperSonics are 8-20 as the visitor this season.

The Hawks will try and get back on the winning track, as they are coming off Tuesday’s 97-87 loss to the Detroit Pistons.

Al Harrington led Atlanta with 20 points and 10 rebounds and Josh Childress added 18 points in the loss — the Hawks’ fourth in six tries. Atlanta returns to Philips Arena, where they have won three straight.

Atlanta is 11-14 at home this season.

Seattle, which is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings with the Hawks, has won two in a row in Atlanta and five of its last six trips to Philips Arena.
