Sonics host struggling Heat

The Heat were dealt a 99-77 loss Sunday night to the Los Angeles Lakers. It ended Miami’s brief two-game win streak and dropped the Heat to 0-6 on the road this season.

Lamar Odom posted 18 points and nine rebounds to lead Miami. Eddie Jones added 12 points in the loss, while rookies Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem each chipped in 10.

The Heat shot terribly in the game, making just 36 percent (29-of-80) from the field. Miami missed all 12 of its attempts from three-point range and hit just 19-of-34 free throws.

The Sonics have won three of their last four games to continue their torrid start to the campaign. Seattle’s latest test was a 98-90 triumph over the Bulls in Chicago on Saturday night.

Rashard Lewis poured in 27 points and Ronald Murray added 26, as the Sonics beat Chicago in front of former Bulls great Michael Jordan, who was in attendance at the United Center.

Murray, the second-year guard from little-known Shaw University, is the eighth-leading scorer in the NBA this season, averaging 23.1 points per game. Murray has started in all eight games for Seattle this season and has scored 20-plus points in seven of those contests.

Vladimir Radmanovic added 21 points in Saturday’s win, while Brent Barry dished out a game-high 10 assists.

The Heat, who are 0-5 against the Western Conference this season, have just one win 15 trips to Seattle all-time. In franchise history, Miami has managed only seven wins in 30 meetings with the Sonics.

Seattle has split four games with the Eastern Conference this season and are 2-1 at KeyArena.
