Spurs continue domination of Utah

Salt Lake City, UT (Basketball News) - Tim Duncan had 19 points and eight rebounds to lead a balanced attack, as San Antonio continued its domination of the Jazz in a 79-70 victory over Utah at the Delta Center.

Tony Parker added 17 points for the Spurs, who have won 20 of the last 22 versus the Jazz. Bruce Bowen tallied 13 points, while Manu Ginobili and Beno Udrih each scored 10, as the Spurs limited the Jazz to 32.4 percent shooting.

The Spurs have won four in a row and eight of their last nine games to move a half-game ahead of Dallas in the Southwest Division.

Jarron Collins had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Jazz, who have lost three straight and five of six. Matt Harpring contributed 12 points, while Andrei Kirilenko had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Keith McLeod also had 10 points.

McLeod’s jumper had the Jazz within 62-58 in the early stages of the fourth quarter, but the Spurs put the game away with a 12-4 run. Bowen highlighted the spurt with a three-pointer.

The Jazz were ahead by as many as eight points at 22-14 in the first quarter, but San Antonio scored the final six of the period and then limited Utah to 11 points in the second.

Six consecutive points to end the half had San Antonio on top, 39-33, as Parker hit a jumper, followed by two jumpers from Sean Marks.

One free throw by Parker pushed San Antonio’s lead to 46-36 with 8:15 remaining in the third, but Utah was within 59-55 going into the fourth.

Game Notes

Utah outrebounded the Spurs, 46-41...San Antonio has won 10 of the last 14 matchups at Utah...The Jazz were 24-of-34 at the foul line.
