Tim Duncan scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the Spurs, who won their third straight game. Tony Parker scored 13 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and tallied six assists on the night for the San Antonio. Brent Barry scored nine points off the bench for the Spurs, and Fabricio Oberto grabbed 10 boards.
Gilbert Arenas had a cold night for the Wizards, scoring 17 points on only 6- of-20 shooting from the field. Antonio Daniels scored 12 points off the bench, and Antawn Jamison added 11 points for Washington, which has lost two of three. Caron Butler had 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Wizards, and Andray Blatche scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
A Brendan Haywood free throw pulled the Wizards to within 75-67 with just under seven minutes left in regulation, but that was as close as Washington would get to the lead. Ginobli hit back-to-back threes in response, and Parker hit a layup with 5:31 remaining, an 8-0 run that gave the Spurs an 83-67 lead.
The Wizards trailed 69-54 entering the fourth quarter.
San Antonio took advantage of a cold start by the Wizards, scoring the game’s first nine points, and leading 21-6 after a Barry layup with just over five minutes left.
The Spurs led 29-15 after the first quarter.
San Antonio stretched its lead to 17 points, at 42-25, after a reverse layup by Duncan with 4:31 left in the first half.
Washington closed the gap to 44-38 by halftime.
