Spurs’ Duncan placed on injured list

Duncan is suffering from irritation of the left patellofemoral joint and will undergo treatment, including exercises, to strengthen his left quadriceps muscles. Duncan underwent an MRI exam on Friday.

He played 25 minutes during a loss against Dallas on Thursday before exiting in the third quarter with severe pain in the joint. Duncan finished with 22 points and 17 rebounds.

The two-time reigning MVP will be re-evaluated next week.

In 54 games this season, Duncan is averaging 23.2 points and 13.0 rebounds per contest, both team-highs.
