This is the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On December 18th, Speedy Claxton scored five of his 14 points during a crucial run in the fourth quarter, as the Hornets beat the Spurs, 89-76, at the Ford Center. With the victory, the Hornets snapped a four-game series losing streak.
The Spurs have won seven of nine and nine of the last 12 meetings in this series. The Hornets have lost two straight and three of their last four at San Antonio.
On Tuesday, Tony Parker scored 27 points and handed out six assists, as San Antonio defeated the Indiana Pacers, 99-86, at the SBC Center. All-Star forward Tim Duncan finished with 26 points and nine rebounds for the Spurs, who have won three of their last four games overall.
Duncan leads the Spurs in scoring (20.9 ppg) and rebounding (11.7 rpg), while Parker is averaging a team-best 6.2 assists per contest.
San Antonio is an impressive 13-1 at the SBC Center this season. The Spurs have won eight in a row as the host.
The Hornets attempt to win their second straight game this evening. On Wednesday, David West knocked down a jump shot with 1.4 seconds remaining to give New Orleans/Oklahoma City a 92-90 victory over the Houston Rockets at the Ford Center.
J.R. Smith led a balanced Hornets scoring attack with 16 points, while West finished with 15 in the win over the Rockets. Rasual Butler netted all 15 of his points in the fourth quarter, while rookie phenim Chris Paul dished out a career-best 15 assists to go along with 11 points.
New Orleans/Oklahoma City is 5-10 on the road this season. The Hornets have lost two straight and six of their last seven as the visitor.
