Spurs ink Brent Barry; sign Sato 07.15.2004

Barry, who spent the last five seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics, has played for four teams in his nine-year career. He has posted career averages of 10.7 points, 3.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds over 595 games.
"We are very pleased to have a player of Brent Barry’s caliber joining the Spurs," said general manager R.C. Buford. "His athleticism, outside shooting and leadership make him a great addition to our franchise."
Last season, Barry played just 59 games for Seattle and averaged 10.8 points, 5.8 assists and 3.5 boards while splitting time at both guard positions. He finished second in the NBA in three-point field-goal percentage, shooting 45.2 percent from beyond the arc.
Sato was drafted by the Spurs with the 52nd overall pick in June’s draft a four-year career at Xavier. The 6-5 guard finished third on the school’s all- time scoring list (2,005 points) and eighth in rebounds (892).
