Spurs visit City of Brotherly Love

02.15.2006

(Basketball News) - The San Antonio Spurs try to get back on the winning track this evening when they conclude their season-long eight-game road trip against the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wachovia Center.

San Antonio, which will be playing its final game before the All-Star break, saw its franchise-record nine-game road winning streak come to an end on Monday, as it was upended by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, 101-87, at Quicken Loans Arena.

Tim Duncan had 19 points and 10 boards for the Spurs, who also lost for the first time in their last 10 games overall.

Manu Ginobili and Beno Udrih each contributed 12 points for San Antonio, which lost for the first time since a January 22 home game against Denver and suffered their first road defeat since January 7 at Phoenix.

The Spurs will once against be without forward Robert Horry tonight, as he continues to nurse an abdomen injury. Horry has played just four times over his team’s last 13 games because of the injury.

San Antonio, which will host Seattle on Tuesday out of the break, is 19-8 away from home this season.

Philadelphia, meanwhile, comes in on a sour note after falling to the Washington Wizards, 107-97, on Sunday at the MCI Center. Allen Iverson tallied a game-high 33 points with five rebounds and seven assists for the struggling Sixers, who lost their third straight game and fell for the fifth time in their past six outings.

Chris Webber added a double-double with 24 points and 13 boards and Kyle Korver had 12 points off the bench in the loss.

The Sixers, who will visit Chicago on Thursday in their final game before this weekend’s festivities, are 15-11 in their building this season.

San Antonio defeated Philly earlier in the season, but could be at a disadvantage tonight, as the road team in this series has lost nine of the last 11 meetings. The Spurs, though, have won eight of their past 13 in the City of Brotherly Love.
