Struggling Warriors welcome Magic to The Arena

03.1.2006

(Basketball News) - The Golden State Warriors will attempt to end a four-game losing streak tonight when they host the Orlando Magic at The Arena in Oakland.

The streak continued Monday night against the Utah Jazz in a 117-108 overtime loss. Jason Richardson led all scorers with 35 points and Derek Fisher had 21 points and 10 assists for the Warriors, who missed 10 free throws in the fourth quarter. Fisher posted his first double-double since March 12, 1998.

Golden State is 15-15 as the host this season, but has won just 12 times in its last 38 games overall. The Warriors are also in last place in the Pacific Division.

The Warriors have been without point guard Baron Davis since he sprained his right ankle on February 11 at Cleveland. He is doubtful for Wednesday’s game versus the Magic.

Orlando, meanwhile, dropped a 102-87 decision to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday. The Magic have lost nine in a row on the road overall and nine straight versus the Lakers.

Grant Hill had 23 points to lead the Magic, who have lost 10 of 11 and 14 of their last 16 games. Dwight Howard added 15 points and nine rebounds in the losing cause.

The Magic are just 6-22 as the guest this season.

Wednesday’s contest between Golden State and Orlando is the first meeting of the season between both squads. The two will meet again in Orlando on Saturday, March 11.

Golden State has won two of the last three matchups in the series.
