Timberwolves go for fourth straight win

Minnesota enters tonight’s contest after going a perfect 3-0 during a short homestand.

On Saturday, the Timberwolves tallied an 83-77 win over the Miami Heat at the Target Center. Kevin Garnett posted a game-high 28 points and 17 rebounds, while Sam Cassell added 18 points in the win.

Ervin Johnson finished with 10 points in the victory for the Timberwolves, who have won 12 of their last 14 games.

Minnesota, which has lost two of its last three on the road, is 12-6 as the visitor this season.

New Orleans comes into tonight’s game having lost two in a row. On Saturday, the Hornets dropped an 89-84 decision to the Chicago Bulls in the Windy City.

Davis poured in a game-high 29 points for the Hornets, who have dropped three of their last four games. Jamaal Magloire netted 12 and P.J. Brown pulled down a game-high 13 boards in the losing effort.

Saturday’s game marked the second appearance in the Windy City for Hornets’ head coach Tim Floyd, who coached the Bulls from 1998-2001.

The Hornets, who have lost two of their last four at home, are 11-5 as the host this season.

In 2002-03, the teams split a pair of games as each club won on its homecourt.

Overall, Minnesota has won four of the last five contests with the Hornets. The Timberwolves are 2-12 at the Hornets.
