The Timberwolves play the third leg of a four-game road trip. Wally Szczerbiak scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Minnesota past the Sacramento Kings, 85-77, on Sunday at ARCO Arena.
Troy Hudson had 17 points and Michael Olowokandi contributed 13 in the win over Sacramento for the Timberwolves, who have won four of their five games overall. Kevin Garnett added 11 points and 10 boards in the win.
Minnesota is 3-4 on the road this season. The Timberwolves will wrap up the road swing on Wednesday against Portland at the Rose Garden.
The Timberwolves return home on Saturday to host Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. It will be the third meeting of the season between the clubs. Minnesota won both contests as it defeated the Lakers, 88-74, on November 9th at the Target Center and took home a five-point win, 113-108, on December 2nd at the Staples Center.
Garnett leads the Timberwolves in scoring (21.9 ppg), rebounds (10.5 rpg), and assists (5.1 apg). The All-Star forward has scored in double-digits in all 15 of Minnesota’s games this season and has registered 10 double-doubles.
Minnesota has won four of five and six of its last eight games overall. The Timberwolves, who have scored 90 or more points in nine contests this season, have won three in a row on the road.
