Timberwolves try to tune out Jazz

(Basketball News) - The Utah Jazz try to keep their slim playoff hopes alive when they visit the disappointing Minnesota Timberwolves tonight at the Target Center.

Utah is three games behind the Sacramento Kings for the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference.

The Jazz attempt to bounce back from loss this evening. On Tuesday, Manu Ginobili scored 26 points, including 4-of-6 from three-point range, as the San Antonio Spurs knocked off Utah, 95-86, at the Delta Center.

Carlos Boozer scored 27 points and grabbed 17 boards and Matt Harpring netted 21in the loss to San Antonio for the Jazz. Rookie Deron Williams finished with14 points for Utah, which has lost two of its last three games overall.

Utah is 17-20 as the visitor this season. It has won three of its last five on the road.

The Timberwolves try to halt a two-game losing streak, as they open a brief two-game homestand. On Wednesday, Josh Childress converted a layup at the buzzer to lift the Atlanta Hawks to a 101-99 victory over the Timberwolves at Philips Arena.

Ricky Davis paced Minnesota in defeat with a game-high 33 points on 13-of-21 shooting from the floor. Kevin Garnett added 27 points and 15 rebounds, as he extended his double-double streak to 32 games. Rookie Rashad McCants netted 14 for the Timberwolves, who dropped their 13th straight game on the road.

Minnesota is a solid 23-14 at home this season. The Timberwolves are scheduled to host the Hawks on Sunday at the Target Center.

Utah has won two of the three meetings between the squads this season. The Jazz have lost four of six, six of 10 and eight of their last 13 at Minnesota.
