On Friday night versus the San Antonio Spurs, the Grizzlies suffered an 83-80 loss — their second straight and seventh in 11 games.
Paul Gasol recorded 21 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out for the Grizzlies, who lost their second game in a row after winning four straight. Chucky Atkins tallied 12 points, while Mike Miller added 14 off the bench.
The Grizzlies committed a season-high 24 turnovers that led to 26 points for the Spurs in the setback.
Memphis, which currently owns the sixth spot in the Western Conference playoff race, is 2-7 in its last nine road games. The Grizzlies are 13-16 away from FedEx Forum this season.
The Timberwolves are having an awful month of February. They are 2-9 in the month and just suffered a 102-101 overtime loss on Friday to Denver. Carmelo Anthony poured in 30 points, including the game-winning three-pointer to lead the Nuggets to victory.
Kevin Garnett posted 23 points and 15 rebounds for Minnesota, which lost its second straight game. Ricky Davis and Marcus Banks both scored 19 points, and Mark Blount added 11.
Minnesota is 4-10 since the trade that brought Davis, Banks, Mark Blount and Justin Reed from Boston for Wally Szczerbiak, Michael Olowokandi and Dwayne Jones.
The Timberwolves are 1-5 in their last six home games and 15-13 this season as the host.
The Grizzlies have won four straight against Minnesota, including a 107-87 win at home on January 25, after registering only five wins in the previous 37 matchups in the series.
Memphis is just 3-17 at Minnesota and has dropped six of eight at the Target Center.
