(Basketball News) - The Toronto Raptors were defeated by the New York Knicks, 90-79, on Monday at Madison Square Garden.
Jalen Rose led the Raptors with 22 points. Toronto played without forward Vince Carter, who was sidelined with a right quadriceps injury. Donyell Marshall added 21 points, while hauling in 15 rebounds in the loss. Chris Bosh contributed 18 points for the Raptors.
The Knicks scored nine straight points to open the fourth quarter. Allan Houston ended the run with a long three-pointer that staked New York to a 75-61 cushion with under 11 minutes to play.
Toronto would get within seven points after a Morris Peterson jumper with under two minutes remaining in the game made it 84-77. However, the Raptors would not get any closer.
Rose, who saw 40 minutes of action against the Knicks, has played at least 40 minutes in five straight games.
The Raptors are off until Wednesday when they host Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timberwolves, who defeated Toronto, 73-56, on November 1, 2003 at the Target Center.
