(Basketball News) - Vince Carter poured in a season-high 43 points, including hitting the game-winning shot with 1.2 seconds left in overtime, as Toronto edged Atlanta, 99-97, at Philips Arena on Wednesday.
Carter ended 18-of-28 from the field and also had seven rebounds for the Raptors, who have won two of their last three games.
Chris Bosh totaled 17 points, while Antonio Davis chipped in 10 points and 11 boards in the win.
Jason Terry’s three-pointer with 3:18 left in overtime gave Atlanta a 94-93 lead, but Carter answered with a jumper with 1:56 to play in the extra period to put Toronto back on top by one.
Toronto then extended its cushion to 97-94 on Carter’s baseline jumper with 1:21 left in overtime, but Jacque Vaughn’s hoop with 30.1 seconds left brought the Hawks within one again. Carter then missed a runner and Davis was called for an offensive foul, putting Dion Glover at the line. Glover made 1-of-2 to tie the game at 97-97 with 8.0 seconds remaining in OT.
Carter then came off a screen and drained a jumper with 1.2 seconds left in overtime to put Toronto up 99-97. The Hawks were unable to get a shot off in the closing seconds.
The Raptors are off until Friday when they visit the Orlando Magic.
