Tough times for the Hawks

(Basketball News) - The Atlanta Hawks try to halt a six-game losing streak this evening when they close a three-game road trip against the Utah Jazz at the Delta Center.

Stopping the skid maybe easier said than done, as the Hawks have lost 11 straight in Utah and are just 1-12 all-time at the Delta Center. Their last win in Salt Lake City came back on February 13, 1993.

Atlanta’s miserable start to the season continued on Tuesday, as they dropped a 125-116 decision to the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center. Al Harrington poured in a season-best 35 points for the pesky Hawks, who nearly fought back from an early 14-point deficit before falling to 2-15 on the year and are 0-13 versus the Western Conference.

Tyronn Lue finished with 16 points, while Royal Ivey and Josh Childress each contributed 14.

The Hawks were without forward Josh Smith, who was suspended for two games for elbowing Phoenix Suns guard Raja Bell in a loss on Sunday at America West Arena. Smith, who is averaging 8.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for Atlanta this season, will be eligible to return on Saturday against San Antonio.

Without Smith in the starting lineup this season, the Hawks are 0-8.

Atlanta is a dismal 1-9 away from home this season.

Following tonight’s contest Atlanta will host the San Antonio Spurs before heading out for another brief two-game road trip that will include stops in Cleveland and Philadelphia.
