Wade paces Heat past Bobcats

11.25.2006

Charlotte, NC (Basketball News) - Dwyane Wade had 35 points and 12 assists to lead the Miami Heat over the Charlotte Bobcats, 102-93.

Alonzo Mourning and Antoine Walker added 16 points each for the Heat, who ended a three-game slide and won for just the second time in eight games. Walker sparked a fourth-quarter run that gave Miami a comfortable lead and Mourning ended with three blocks for Miami, which has won six straight over the Bobcats.

Adam Morrison tied a career-high with 27 points to lead Charlotte, which has dropped consecutive games. Gerald Wallace added 14 points and 11 rebounds and Raymond Felton had 13 points and seven assists for the Bobcats, who have dropped four of five.

Miami led for virtually the entire contest. But, holding a slim 66-64 lead late in the third quarter, it was a 10-2 run that bridged the final two frames that gave the Heat some breathing room. Wade spearheaded the run, scoring eight points, as Miami went ahead 76-66 with just a minute elapsed in the fourth.

Charlotte later drew within 80-75 when Felton hit a runner with 8:05 left. However, Walker ignited an 11-2 surge for the Heat that put them back ahead by double figures. Walker had six points during the run and Miami withstood a late surge by the Bobcats to hold on for the win.

Matt Carroll had 14 points for Charlotte, which led 25-23 only to trail 51-43 at halftime.

Game Notes

Miami entered the game as the worst shooting team in the league, but shot a blistering 55.1 percent from the floor...Charlotte’s Emeka Okafor was held to nine points, marking just the second game this season he did not score in double figures. Okafor also had 11 rebounds...Wade ended two points off his season-high. He shot 10-of-14 from the floor and hit 15-of-22 free throws.
