Wade’s hot hand leads Miami past Sacramento

12.3.2005

Sacramento, CA (Basketball News) - Dwyane Wade poured in 27 points and handed out seven assists, as Miami defeated Sacramento, 98-87, at ARCO Arena.

Jason Williams chipped in 20 points and eight helpers while Udonis Haslem contributed 12 points and eight rebounds for the Heat, who have won three straight games.

Brad Miller scored 18 points and hauled in 15 boards for the Kings, who have dropped two straight following a three-game winning streak. Mike Bibby had 16 points and nine assists while Bonzi Wells added 16 points in the loss.

Miami jumped out to a nine-point lead courtesy of Alonzo Mourning’s hoop just over five minutes into the first quarter and held a 29-24 lead after one period.

The Heat extended the lead to 40-30 on Williams’ layup midway through the second and led by as many as 13 points moments later. Sacramento got within single digits at the intermission, as it trailed 57-48.

In an evenly-played third quarter, Miami enjoyed an 81-73 lead after 36 minutes.

Wells’ basket midway through the fourth period brought the Kings within five points at 84-79, but that would be as close as they would get. The Heat widened the gap to eight moments later, and Haslem’s two free throws with 2:45 remaining made it 94-85 and sealed the win.

Game Notes

Mourning had 12 points and Antoine Walker added 11 for the Heat...Miami shot 49 percent from the floor and was a blistering 11-of-21 from three-point range (52 percent). The Kings hit 42 percent of their attempts, but were just 3- of-15 from behind the arc (20 percent)...Sacramento’s Shareef Abdur-Rahim netted 14 points in the loss...This marked just the second time the visitor has won in the last eight meetings of the series...The Heat won for only the fifth time in their last 13 trips to Sacramento.
