Wallace, Bobcats knock around Knicks

Wallace made 14-of-22 shots from the field, 11-of-17 at the charity stripe and finished 3-for-5 beyond the arc. He also pulled down eight rebounds for Charlotte, which has won two in a row and six of its last eight overall. Wallace also held the previous team mark as he poured in 41 points in a game against the Indiana Pacers last season.

"I don’t think it was a case of me being in the zone," said Wallace after the game. "It was just our team. This is the team everybody was expecting at the start of the season."

Raymond Felton chipped in with 16 points and dished out 10 assists for the Bobcats, while Adam Morrison donated 11 points in the effort. Derek Anderson also finished with 10 points and five boards.

Charlotte also pulled out the victory while missing a couple of key players. The team announced prior to the game that forward Sean May will be out indefinitely with a bone bruise in right knee, while Othella Harrington is scheduled to undergo surgery tomorrow on his left knee and will miss the next three-to-six weeks.

Jamal Crawford scored a team-high 28 points for the Knicks, who have dropped six of their last nine games. Eddy Curry finished with 15 points, while Channing Frye chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds in a losing cause.

David Lee and Nate Robinson had 10 points apiece for New York.

Neither team led by more than two through the first quarter, until a 7-2 spurt put the Knicks up 30-24 with just 29 ticks to play. With the game tied at 23, Curry started things with a layup, while Crawford’s jump shot capped the burst. Matt Carroll then hit a short jumper for the Bobcats, bringing them within four, but New York led 30-26 after the opening 12 minutes.

Charlotte put the next 10 points on the board to open a 36-30 lead. The Knicks rebounded, however, and pulled ahead 39-38 on a pair of free throws by Stephon Marbury at 7:07.

The game then moved into a shootout down the stretch, as the Bobcats went into the break holding a 56-54 edge.

Charlotte jumped out to a 15-point lead in the third quarter and never trailed the rest of the way, after Emeka Okafor’s layup made it 74-59 with 5:58 remaining in the stanza.

The Knicks cut their deficit to four, 76-72, on Crawford’s shot from the charity stripe at 1:13. Jake Voskuhl then answered with a layup at the other end, as the Bobcats led 78-72 heading into the fourth.

New York did not get its first field goal in the final stanza until there was 1:54 remaining in the game, going 0-for-11 from the field.

Charlotte went up by 15 with 2 1/2 minutes remaining in the contest and cruised to the final buzzer.

"We didn’t do a good job of guarding him," Knicks coach Isaiah Thomas said of Wallace. "He had it going on and we couldn’t stop him."
