Pietrus, the 11th overall pick by the Warriors in 2003, has been out of action since dislocating his left shoulder in a July summer league game. He underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair the injury on July 20.
The 22-year-old guard appeared in games for Golden State last season, averaging 5.3 points and 2.2 rebounds while emerging as one of the team’s best defenders.
In a related move, the team placed center Andris Biedrins on the injured list with a strained left hamstring. Biedrins, the youngest player in the NBA, has seen limited action in three games so far this season.
