Warriors resume road trip in Orlando

12.22.2006

(Basketball News) - The Southeast Division-leading Orlando Magic shoot for their third straight win this evening, when they close out a three-game homestand against the Golden State Warriors at Amway Arena.

Orlando defeated Cleveland to open the stand, then posted an 86-83 triumph over the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets on Wednesday. Grant Hill had 21 points and seven rebounds to lead the Magic.

Dwight Howard contributed 16 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks while Trevor Ariza had 14 points for the Magic, who have won two in a row after losing their previous three games.

Orlando, which leads the division by three games over Washington, is 10-4 at home this season.

The Magic could get Jameer Nelson back tonight after the guard missed the team’s last four games with a groin injury. Nelson is listed as questionable for this evening’s contest.

Golden State is 1-3 on its current six-game road trip and ended a three-game losing streak with Wednesday’s 96-95 win over the Boston Celtics at TD Banknorth Arena.

Baron Davis scored 31 points and handed out eight assists to lead the Warriors, who improved to 2-9 as the visitor this season. Mickael Pietrus scored 16 points for the Warriors, who will visit Miami on Saturday to close out the lengthy trek.

Andris Biedrins scored 12 points and pulled down nine boards while Mike Dunleavy added 10 points off the bench in the victory. Golden State is 6 1/2 games off Phoenix’s lead in the Pacific Division.

The Warriors, who split a pair of games with the Magic last season, have won three of the last five meetings with Orlando. Golden State has dropped 12 of its last 13 games at Orlando, however.
