Warriors start road trip in Utah

(Basketball News) - The Golden State Warriors begin a three-game road trip, as they visit the Utah Jazz tonight at the Delta Center.

Golden State attempts to make it two straight wins this evening. Baron Davis scored 17 points and dished out nine assists as the Warriors pulled away for a 102-89 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday at The Arena in Oakland.

The Golden State bench was the story, with three reserves scoring in double figures. Mickael Pietrus, Monta Ellis, and Ike Diogu led a bench that combined for 49 points and 22 rebounds. Pietrus scored 16 and pulled down 10 rebounds, while Ellis scored 15 and Diogu netted 10.

The Warriors, who play their first road game of the season, were 13-28 as the visitor last season. They will also visit Dallas and New Orleans/Oklahoma City on the swing.

The Jazz, who start a brief two-game homestand, attempt to begin the season with a 3-0 record for the first time since the 2000-01 campaign when they opened with five straight victories.

On Friday, Carlos Boozer led the way for Utah with 21 points and 12 rebounds. and his dunk with 31 seconds gave the Jazz the lead for good as they held off the Phoenix Suns, 108-104, at US Airways Center.

Derek Fisher tallied 18 points off the bench in the win for Utah, while Matt Harpring and Andrei Kirilenko added 17 points apiece for the Jazz.

Utah, which will host Detroit on Monday, is 1-0 at home this season. The Jazz defeated Houston, 107-97, in the season-opener on Wednesday in front of their home crowd.

The Jazz won three of the four meetings between the squads last season. Golden State has won two of its last three after losing 19 in a row at Utah.
