Warriors trying to find a win

04.11.2006

(Basketball News) - The Golden State Warriors have lost eight straight games and own a disappointing 30-46 record, which puts them in last place in the Pacific Division.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers will try and close in on earning a playoff berth when they host the slumping Warriors at the Staples Center. It is the fourth and final meeting of the campaign between the squads. The Lakers have won all three contests and eight of the last nine meetings in this series.

Golden State has lost five straight and 12 of 13 at the Lakers.

The Warriors enter Tuesday’s contest on their worst losing streak of the season. On Saturday, Carmelo Anthony scored 28 points on 9-of-16 shooting to lead the Denver Nuggets over the Warriors, 95-92, at the Pepsi Center.

Derek Fisher scored 19 points and dished out nine assists, while rookie Ike Diogu also netted 19 and Mike Dunleavy contributed 18 points and 10 boards in the win over Denver for the Warriors.

The Warriors are 12-26 on the road this season. They have lost four in a row as the visitor.

Golden State is going to miss the playoffs for a 12th straight year. The Warriors last qualified for the postseason in 1994, when the club won 50 games and was led by Chris Mullin, Latrell Sprewell and Chris Webber.
