(Basketball News) - The Washington Wizards posted a victory over the struggling Chicago Bulls in Saturday night’s game at the MCI Center.
Gilbert Arenas poured in a season-high 34 points as Washington rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to post a 95-88 victory over Chicago.
Larry Hughes finished with 18 points and seven steals while Antawn Jamison compiled 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Wizards, who outscored the Bulls 26-18 in the fourth quarter to record their fourth straight triumph.
Washington had not won four in a row since December 31, 2002 to January 8, 2003.
The teams were tied 81-81 with four minutes to play before the Wizards reeled off seven straight points to move ahead to stay. Washington went ahead on Brendan Haywood’s dunk at the 2:35 mark and extended the lead to four points on two Jamison free throws on their next trip down the court. Jared Jeffries then buried a three-pointer with one minute left to seal the win.
The Wizards play the second test of a four-game homestand on Wednesday night against the Denver Nuggets.
