(Basketball News) - Larry Hughes scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Washington Wizards over the Atlanta Hawks, 104-101, on Sunday at the MCI Center.
Antawn Jamison finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Wizards, who won for the first time in three outings.
Forward Kwame Brown missed Sunday’s game with a strained right ankle tendon, while fellow front court player Samaki Walker did not play because of the flu.
Washington, which started a five-game homestand, has won eight of 11 at home and is 9-5 in its arena this season.
Hughes has scored 20 or more points in four straight contests. He is averaging 27.3 points in that span.
The Wizards are off until Tuesday when they host Jason Kidd and the New Jersey Nets. Washington is 2-0 against the Nets this season, as they have won once at home and once at the Meadowlands. The teams are also scheduled to play on April 19 at New Jersey.
Washington will also host the Seattle SuperSonics, Minnesota Timberwolves and Portland Trail Blazers on its homestand.
