(Basketball News) - Gilbert Arenas scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Washington Wizards to an 84-70 win over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday at the MCI Center.
Etan Thomas added 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Jarvis Hayes chipped in 15 points, as Washington won for the fourth time in its last five games.
Arenas, who did not attempt a shot in the final 12 minutes, has been unstoppable of late and has averaged 29.5 points, 7.8 assists and 7.8 rebounds over his last four games.
Washington, which pulled down a season-high 61 boards, also moved within 4 1/2 games of the Boston Celtics for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Wizards will head to Boston on Friday before hosting the New York Knicks, another team ahead of them in the playoff race, on Sunday.
Washington, which has lost three of four and 14 of its last 16 away from home, lost to the Celtics earlier in the season and has dropped seven of the last 11 meetings.The Wizards have also lost five of seven and 11 of its last 14 in Boston.
