Webber could get six games for suspension 02.15.2004

The Sacramento Bee reported Sunday that Webber will be forced to sit at least six games as a result of lying to a federal grand jury about receiving money while at the University of Michigan from former basketball booster Ed Martin.
In July, Webber pleaded guilty to one count of criminal contempt. He was given community service and a deferred sentence.
The newspaper said the Kings have likely been informed of the length of the penalty, although the league won’t officially comment.
Webber could return to practice this week, then could be activated off the injured list. At that time, the suspension would likely go into effect.
Last season, Webber averaged 23 points and 10.5 rebounds. He suffered a knee injury during the Western Conference semifinals.
