Wizards have tough road ahead 03.6.2006
|
With Philadelphia at the seventh spot and an upcoming schedule that includes Miami, Detroit and Dallas, the Wizards certainly have some work to do.
They started off on the right foot by ending a three-game losing streak with a 117-107 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. Antawn Jamison scored 31 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Gilbert Arenas contributed 23 point.
Arenas leads the Wizards in scoring with 28.8 points per game. He has been on fire as of late, averaging 33.4 points over his last five contests. Arenas and Jamison also have been invited to compete for a spot on the 2006 World Championships and 2008 Olympic team for the United States.
Arenas and Co. need to play like Olympians for their upcoming schedule. After Tuesday’s home game versus the Boston Celtics, Washington will travel to Miami before returning home for a game against the Detroit Pistons.
The Wizards will host Dallas on March 17 and New Jersey on March 21, then will travel Los Angeles for a showdown with the Clippers on March 25.
April doesn’t get any easier either for the Wizards, who play the Spurs, Heat, 76ers, Cavs and Pistons throughout the month.
