Wizards make qualifying offers to Brown, Blake 06.29.2005

Washington will now have the chance to match any other offer to Brown and Blake.
Brown, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, has not yet lived up to the hype as the fourth-year pro has posted career averages of just 7.7 points and 5.5 rebounds.
The 23-year-old, who made the jump to the pros straight from high school, scored 7.0 points and hauled in 4.9 boards last season while playing in only 42 games.
Brown, who rejected a multi-year contract extension in the fall, missed most of his team’s playoff games in 2004-05 as he was suspended by the club for an internal problem.
Blake, a two-year player out of Maryland, scored 4.3 points and handed out 1.6 assists last season while playing primarily in a backup role. For his career, the 25-year-old has totaled 5.3 points and 2.3 assists.
