The Wizards are currently sixth in the Eastern Conference playoff race, but have dropped two in a row and five of their last six games.
In their last game Wednesday against the mighty Heat, Gilbert Arenas netted 28 points in a 118-112 loss — the Wizards’ fifth in six outings. Caron Butler finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds for Washington.
Washington is off on Friday, but will hit the hardwood Saturday night against the Detroit Pistons.
The Wizards will play five of their next six games at home, where they are 21-11 this season. The Wizards own a 13-3 mark in their last 16 games at the Verizon Center.
Washington leads the season series with the Pistons 1-0 after posting a 120-114 victory in double overtime on November 25.
Arenas poured in 39 points and dished out eight assists in that hard-fought triumph that ended a 10-game losing streak to the Pistons.
However, the odds are against the Wizards in this matchup with Detroit, which has won seven in a row at Washington.
After Saturday’s game, the Wizards will open a home-and-home series with the Charlotte Bobcats. Dallas, Chicago and New Jersey will then visit DC.
