Wizards place F Jarvis Hayes on IL

Salt Lake City, UT (Basketball News) - The Washington Wizards placed forward Jarvis Hayes on the injured list Tuesday with a strained left hamstring. Hayes, the Wizards first round draft pick in 2003, has played in 64 games this season.

The 10th overall selection, Hayes is averaging 9.6 points and 4.0 rebounds in his rookie season. He was a two-time consensus First-Team All-SEC at Georgia. The 6’7" swingman left school to enter the draft after his junior season.

The club also announced Tuesday that guard Chris Whitney has been activated off the injured list. Whitney was averaging 3.9 points in 12 games this season prior to being placed on the injured list on December 26, 2003.
