On Monday, Ricky Davis exploded with a game-high 32 points as Boston cruised past New Orleans/Oklahoma City, 91-78.
Davis also dished out a game-high eight assists for the Celtics, who won for the sixth time in their last eight tries at home and picked up their third win in their last four games overall.
Raef LaFrentz added 18 points on 7- of-8 shooting including 4-of-5 from long distance, while Paul Pierce chipped in with 16 points and nine rebounds in the win.
The Celtics, who will close this stand against Sacramento on Friday, are 13-8 in their arena this season.
Washington, meanwhile, comes in on a sour note after dropping a 93-82 decision to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday at the MCI Center. Antawn Jamison led the Wizards with 25 points and 10 rebounds.
Gilbert Arenas scored 24 points and Caron Butler added 16 in the loss, just Washington’s second in seven games. Brendan Haywood controlled the boards with 10 rebounds.
Washington, which will close a brief two-game road trip in Chicago on Saturday, has won four of its last six on the road and is 7-12 away from home this season.
The Wizards defeated the Celtics earlier in the year, but has dropped three of the last four meetings. Boston, which has won seven of its last 10 overall versus Washington, has also won four in a row and eight of its last 10 as the home team in this series.
