Wolves, Tskitishvili agree to deal

07.22.2005

St. Paul, MN (Basketball News) - The Minnesota Timberwolves have reportedly agreed to terms with free agent forward Nikoloz Tskitishvili.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported the deal, but it cannot become official until the league moratorium on free agent signings is lifted. Earlier in the week, the league’s labor relations committee announced the moratorium period would be extended indefinitely until the new collective bargaining agreement is finalized.

Tskitishvili, the fifth overall selection in the 2002 draft by Denver, has averaged 3.0 points and 1.8 rebounds in 155 games with the Nuggets and Golden State Warriors, who acquired him last season for forward Eduardo Najera, guard Luis Flores and a future first-round draft pick.

"However they want to use me, they can use me," Tskitishvili told the paper. "I can do everything. I can be a rebounder. I can be a low post player if I work on my post moves more this summer. I can be a shooter. I’m ready for everything."

The seven-footer played just 35 games combined last year and managed 1.4 points and 1.2 boards in 6.3 minutes a game.

Tskitishvili, 22, played a summer league game with the Wolves last week and scored 25 points while pulling down 10 rebounds. However, in his second game with them he broke a bone in his right hand and will be out about four weeks.
