James scored 29 points and grabbed seven rebounds, but came down awkwardly on his right foot after going up for a layup late in the fourth quarter. After a brief delay, he was helped off the court — without putting any weight on his right foot — with 12.1 seconds left in regulation and the Cavaliers down 85-84.
"I came down and landed on someone’s foot," said James after the game. "For me, it’s a day-to-day injury. I’m looking forward to playing on Tuesday."
James left the Delta Center on crutches with the ankle heavily taped.
Ira Newble made 1-of-2 free throws to send the game into extra time. Carlos Boozer scored 21 of his career-high 32 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to power the Cavaliers. Boozer also grabbed 18 rebounds in the win.
