New Orleans Hornets Team Report - January 31 01.31.2004
|
(Basketball News) - The New Orleans Hornets fell to the Philadelphia 76ers, 85-82, on Friday at the Wachovia Center.
Jamal Mashburn netted 20 points for the Hornets, who fell for the first time in four games.
The Hornets took their first lead of the game since the first quarter early in the final quarter. However, Aaron McKie made a jumper with just 7.1 seconds left to play to put the Sixers ahead 83-82 to and they led the rest of the way.
Mashburn missed a shot on the ensuing possession with Thomas in his face and the Hornets were then forced to foul Samuel Dalembert, who came down with one of his 10 rebounds.
Dalembert sank both free throws with less than two seconds remaining and Baron Davis’ long shot at the horn fell short to make the victory official for the 76ers.
New Orleans dropped to 12-12 on the road this season.
The Hoernets host the Miami Heat tonight.
