(Basketball News) - Moochie Norris scored seven of his team- high 21 points down the stretch to help New York rally for a 101-97 win over New Orleans at the New Orleans Arena.
Mike Sweetney delivered a career-high 16 points and nine rebounds off the bench for the Knicks, who overcame a 10-point deficit after three quarters to earn their third straight win. They remain in a tight battle for sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings with New Orleans. Shandon Anderson and Tim Thomas both contributed 15 points.
Norris allowed New York to overcome an 92-87 deficit by sparking a 10-1 run late in the game. He hit a three-pointer from the left corner with 3:13 to play that put them ahead 93-92.He added a runner in the lane 1:13 later and a reverse layup with 1:29 to go to put the Knicks ahead 97-93.
But the Hornets, who converted just 4-of-19 shots from the field in the fourth, got within 97-96 on a three-pointer by David Wesley with 21.7 seconds remaining.
Two free throws by DerMarr Johnson with 17.6 seconds left stretch the Knicks’ edge to 99-96.
After Wesley missed a three-pointer on New Orleans’ next possession, Frank Williams made two foul shots to secure New York’s victory.
The Knicks will close out their regular season slate against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.
