New York pulled within 79-78 on a three-pointer by Thomas with 3:54 to play, but got no closer.

The Bulls scored eight points in the final 1:22 to secure their win. Eddy Curry scored four points and Jamal Crawford hit a jumper from the right baseline with 3.6 seconds to go. After a turnover, Antonio Davis then capped the scoring with two free throws.

Allan Houston missed his second straight game with a bruised quadriceps, while Anderson started in his place.

The Knicks slipped into a tie with the Cleveland Cavaliers for seventh place in the Eastern Conference. New York is a half-game behind sixth place Miami and 1 1/2 contests ahead of Boston.

New York will try to get back on the winning track Monday evening, when they host the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden.
