On Tuesday, the Atlanta Hawks attempt to put the brakes on a two-game losing streak as they welcome the Denver Nuggets to Philips Arena. It is the second and final time the teams will play this season. On December 6th, rookie Shelden Williams hit the winning two free throws with 5.4 seconds left as the Hawks edged the Nuggets, 98-96, at the Pepsi Center.
Denver has lost 15 of its last 16 at Atlanta. The Hawks have won two in a row in the series.
The Nuggets play the second of their road trip against the Hawks. On Saturday, Josh Howard tied a career-high with 30 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks coasted to a 105-90 win over Denver at American Airlines Center.
Carmelo Anthony shot just 8-of-26 from the floor and finished with 18 points in the loss to Dallas for the Nuggets. J.R. Smith also scored 18 for Denver, which has lost two of its last three games overall.
Denver is 5-3 on the road this season. The Nuggets are scheduled to visit Washington on Wednesday, Boston on Friday and New York on Saturday. They lost to the Knicks on November 8th, and will be playing the Celtics and Wizards for the first time this season.
The Nuggets are 9-5 when they allow more than 100 points this season.
Anthony, who is averaging a team-best 30.9 points per game, has scored more than 20 points in 16 of 18 games this season. The Syracuse product has netted 30 or more in 13 contests.
