Orlando Magic Team Report - December 6 12.6.2003
|
(Basketball News) - The Orlando Magic will attempt to stop their franchise- record 18-game losing streak this evening when they head to Dallas to face the Mavericks at AmericanAirlines Center.
Orlando set a franchise record for futility on Friday when they were upended by the San Antonio Spurs, 105-94. Tracy McGrady had 28 points for the Magic and Drew Gooden had 23 with 15 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season and third in as many games.
With the loss the Magic eclipsed their 17-game winless streak from the 1991-1992 season.
McGrady scored 16 points in the third quarter and helped Orlando overcome an 18-point deficit, as the Magic actually held a five-point advantage heading into the final 12 minutes. However, Orlando missed 16 of its final 21 shots to seal its fate.
The Magic, who have not won since beating the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden to open the year, are 1-7 away from home this season.
These two teams split two matchups last season, but Dallas could have the upper hand tonight, as the home team in this series has won 10 straight meetings. Orlando, though, has won three of the last five and four of the last seven overall matchups, but has lost five straight in Big D.
