(Basketball News) - Tracy McGrady scored a game-high 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Orlando to a 104-99 win over Atlanta on Saturday at Philips Arena.
Tyronn Lue added 19 points and seven assists for the Magic, who snapped their two-game losing streak. Juwan Howard, Drew Gooden and DeShawn Stevenson all added 12 points in the win. Howard also had 10 boards.
Orlando led by four after three quarters and increased the margin to 86-76 on Gooden’s layup with 7:28 left in the game. The Hawks then reeled off five straight points, capped by Jason Terry’s breakaway layup, to pull within five.
Stephen Jackson’s three-pointer moments later brought Atlanta within 88-86, but Lue then answered with a shot from behind the arc to make it 91-86 with 2:20 left. After each team scored, Howard was fouled with 32.9 seconds remaining and the forward from Michigan made both free throws to seal the win.
The Hawks did not get any closer than four points the rest of the game.
Orlando, which improved to 17-44 on the year, won for just the second time in its last six on the road and moved to 9-23 away from home this season.
The Magic will return to action on Monday when they wrap up their brief two- game road trip in Boston against the Celtics. Orlando has dropped two of its three meetings with Boston this season and could be at a disadvantage tonight, as the home team in this series has won nine of the last 11 meetings.
Orlando has also lost five straight and 10 of its last 11 in Beantown. .
