(Basketball News) - Tracy McGrady scored a career-high and franchise-record 62 points to lead the Orlando Magic to a 108-99 win over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday at TD Waterhouse Centre.
McGrady converted 20-of-37 shots from the field, including 5-of-14 three- pointers, and hit 17-of-26 from the foul line while pulling down 10 rebounds for the Magic, who swept the four-game season series. It is the highest regular-season output in the NBA since David Robinson scored 71 on April 24, 1994.
Juwan Howard contributed 14 points and 15 rebounds for Orlando, which snapped a two-game losing streak overall and has won 14 of its last 15 against Washington in Orlando.
Shaquille O’Neal held the old Orlando team record of 53 points set against Minnesota in 1994.
McGrady has scored in double digits in 33 straight contests. He has averaged 30.4 points in his last 10 games.
The Magic are off until Saturday when they host the Seattle SuperSonics. It will be the first meeting of the season between the two teams. The squads will play again on March 21 at KeyArena.
